Dr. Vinit Varu, MD, RPVI, FSVS

Double Board Certified Vascular Surgeon

Dr. Vinit N. Varu is a double-board certified vascular surgeon. He completed a two-year vascular surgery fellowship at Stanford University, one of the most prestigious training programs in the nation. Additionally, he was a post-doctoral research fellow at Northwestern University. His groundbreaking research on the effects of nitric oxide on vascular biology in diabetes mellitus has made him an international expert in the field. He is board-certified in General Surgery and completed his residency, medical and undergraduate degrees at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

 

Dr. Vinit N. Varu, MD, RPVI, FSVS is the Medical Director of Texan Vein & Vascular. He is the first to expand vascular surgery services to the Cedar Park and provides care to patients in the surrounding communities. He is double board-certified in vascular surgery and general surgery, and utilizes the most advanced technology to care for patients. He has been recognized by the Austin under 40 Award Committee for being an outstanding leader in the community.  Throughout his career, Dr. Varu has received numerous accolades for his academic achievements, teaching endeavors, and innovative research.  

Dr. Varu serves the Great Austin, Cedar Park, Georgetown and RoundRock areas of Texas.  His clinical acumen includes all aspects of open arterial and venous surgery, although he champions a more minimally-invasive approach when feasible. He is one of only a few interventionalists in the Central Texas area who is trained to perform the cutting-edge implantation of Fenestrated and Branched endografts for complex abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) in addition to many cutting-edge interventions.

In addition to his clinical and surgical expertise, Dr. Varu has authored 12 peer-reviewed articles and has been the primary author on four textbook chapters related to vascular disease. He has presented his research at prominent scientific meetings throughout the United States and Canada. He is also a registered physician in vascular interpretation (RPVI), the highest standard in vascular ultrasound interpretation.
